This project is my senior capstone project. It is a long-term individual project, in which students can choose and topic they are passionate about to pursue. The original requirement for the project was to create an artifact to present my findings alongside a written component. However, with the coronavirus pandemic and the switch to online school, the requirements were modified to be either an artifact or an essay. I chose the essay route as I believed it was the most effective way to present my findings and opinions. The most challenging part of this project was deciding what I actually wanted to make it about. Within the scope of AI, I could've discussed the future of AI in general, the ethical questions around AI (which was my original plan), the history of AI, the application of AI, or in-depth inquiry into a single specific issue relating to AI. What I ultimately decided was to discuss several different issues relating to the risks and dangers of AI development. To get to my final product, I went through multiple stages of research and ideation before beginning to write. Once I began writing I went through several drafts before finishing. My project narrative (initial proposal and plan), reflections, and drafts are linked below.
